Beck Greener Partners Speaking at Women in Stem Conference 2019

April 2019

The Women in STEM Conference 2019 will offer a leading platform to evaluate how all education providers and employers can work effectively to enhance the participation, recruitment and advancement of Women in STEM.  Participants will gain the latest best practice insights from practitioners and policy experts in enhancing diversity in STEM industries, supporting pipeline progression and ensuring improved uptake of girls and women entering STEM education and careers.

Beck Greener partners Dr James Stones (CSR Lead) and Dr Catherine Jewell (“STEM: Branching Out” Project Lead) will be speaking at this one-day conference on 22 May 2019 in central London.  Catherine and James will lead a case study session “Supporting the Transition from Education to a STEM Career”, in which they will share the story of the Beck Greener “STEM: Branching Out” project and its success as a Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, discuss how employers can support progression in the STEM industry through partnerships with educational institutions and providers to provide high quality placements for students, and explain how they simultaneously provided development opportunities for staff.

Beck Greener’s STEM: “Branching Out” Project aims to inspire young people from diverse backgrounds within London to engage with STEM subjects at school and enter STEM careers.  Both James and Catherine were delighted that this project won a Lord Mayor’s Dragon Award in 2018.   Our CSR work in this area has also been recognised nationally with the STEM Employer (SME) award in the STEM Inspiration awards from STEM Learning UK.
